Houston Ebony Opera Guild Announces June 22 Concert

Celebrating Juneteenth
On the fourth Sunday in June, the Houston Ebony Opera Guild Chorus will perform its Annual Summer Concert: A Juneteenth Celebration at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church. Conducted by A. Jan Taylor, the program is entitled "African American Spirituals: The Tradition Renewed." Featured will be fresh and exciting arrangements by contemporary African American composers including Moses Hogan, Bobby McFerrin, Adolphus Hailstork, Robert Morris, Andre Thomas, Bobby McFerrin and Houston's own Lela Anderson.

What? When? Where? How?
The Houston Ebony Opera Guild Summer Concert of Spirituals in contemporary arrangements will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, June 22, 2008 in the sanctuary of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church at 3826 Wheeler at Scott. General admission tickets for adults are $10 in advance and $15 on concert day. Tickets for children and students of any age (with proper I.D.) are $5 at all times.

Tickets are available in advance from volunteers and also at the following locations:
