African American Music Gala 2013 - Concert features works of
eight Black women composers including Houstonian Lela Anderson
Houston Ebony Opera Guild proudly announces its Annual African American Music Gala:A Concert of Works by Black Women Composers. The program will feature Spirituals, art songs, and instrumental selections by a group of eight women composers that includes pioneers Florence Price, Undine Moore, Margaret Bonds, and others, along with today's Lela Anderson, a native Houstonian who whose work is currently receiving international acclaim.
With A. Jan Taylor as conductor, the two concert performances will be held at 7 p.m., Saturday, February 23 and 4 p.m., Sunday, February 24 at Christ Church Cathedral, 1117 Texas Avenue. Free parking available in the Cathedral's garrage.
PERFORMERS
The roster of performers for African American Music Gala 2013 includes the Houston Ebony Opera Guild Chorus, soprano Joan Bolden Hubert, and piano soloist Fennoyee Thomas. A. Jan Taylor is conductor; Vicki A. Seldon is accompanist. The +winner of Houston Ebony Opera Guild's Outstanding Emerging Artist Award will be announced and will also perform.

Ticket prices for the Annual African Music Gala are as follows.
Adult :$25 in advance/$30 at the door
Group: $20 each for group of 10 or more
Student: $15 (ages 6-18)
